Q: What does Technology Insurance cover?

Technology Errors and Omissions Insurance (also called Professional Liability Insurance) covers your lawsuit expenses when a client sues you over your professional work. Covered lawsuits include everything from a missed deadline to a data breach.

General Liability Insurance covers lawsuit expenses for property damage, bodily injury, trademark infringement, and reputational damage cases. Because IT contractors often work at a client's location, they're often be required to have General Liability Insurance, which will cover your legal costs if you break a client's computer, knock over a monitor, or damage their property while onsite. Check your contracts to see if E&O or GL Insurance is required.
